Broadband East Sussex working together with Music Services
Upload! is an exciting initiative from the Broadband East Sussex team working together with Education to promote the benefits of broadband in schools and to demonstrate the creation of content and applications available on-line.
Together with our music partners, Rhythmix, Broadband East Sussex launched an exciting ten week pilot at Thomas Peacocke School in Rye.
After an introductory session two very different music workshops were run in after-school clubs, one concentrating on Dj-ing and urban music, the other being a 'Pop-choir' vocal workshop. The workshops resulted in the students putting on a successful show, performing live DJ sets in front of other pupils.
Richard Harding, Head of the Youth Centre at Thomas Peacocke School is very positive with the way the programme progressed and says the results have been extraordinary in advancement of self-confidence, engagement with the project and productivity levels of the pupils involved.
The pilot has generated a huge amount of interest and we are working with Education to look at the prospects of rolling out this successful format to other schools so we can look towards a Grand Interschools Finale.
This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a cross industry/education scheme that would provide invaluable learning opportunities for new technologies and music production.
